|John's Kitchen project...
So, I got enough flack from my friends and collectors,
that I have posted my kitchen renovation project. For all
of you who have ever dealt with an old house you will
get it! Enjoy!
The kitchen was remodeled about 12
years ago. Maple cabinets, green
porcelain tile floor and counter tops. No
back splash. Tan walls.
A safe remodel - design wise.
But the floor never set right and the
counter tops were not quite level. Not a
bad kitchen and we did enjoy it for many
years. Much better than the 1960 one
that was torn out then.
But the house is 98 years old and had
So my idea was to really fix the floor
properly. So here is the floor being
pulled up - layer by layer.
Surprise!!! 6 layers of flooring and it
took a crowbar to get it up......
Then the big surprise... we found the original 1914
rock maple floor underneath all the layers of the 20th
So, after a two month wait, my wonderful floor guys showed up.. then it all changed...

All new baseboards and
window trim. Out with the
Granite counters from a great
company in Manchester,
Only hired out for the countertops and
Did everything else. Total cost.....
